Prospective students
NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING GRAD STUDENTS UNTIL 2027 (posted 2/26/26)
Dr. Ackermans does not typically accept grad students into the lab without being able to guarantee at least 2 years of full funding, which can sometimes be offered as a GTA at UA. Note that UA usually have a week in October where grad applications are free.
Ideally, you would join the lab with your own funding (on a fellowship, for example), but do not hesitate to ask if we can fund you, opportunities come up every so often without being advertised.
Please reach out if you are interested in joining the lab and specify which of our projects you are interested in.
CURRENTLY ACCEPTING 2 UNDERGRADS (posted 2/26/26)
Undergrads are accepted on a project need basis. I prefer to take on Freshman and Sophomores who will commit to staying with the lab until they graduate. All projects involve a minimum of 6h/week of lab work. We offer a variety of projects including wet lab, field work, and computer based. We are currently not able to offer pay for this work but you can get research credit hours.
