A new addition to the CVN lab!

Although I’m a little late to announce it, please welcome the latest additions to the CVN lab, Dr. Ananth Srinivas and his faithful companion Dr. Thea!

Dr. Srinivas joined the lab in January of 2025 as a postdoctoral researcher, with the goal to focus on the biomechanics of headbutting bovids (and woodpeckers, if I can convince him…). We are really excited to have him (and Thea) on board and I can’t wait to show you some of his work here soon!

Dr. Srinivas has a PhD in comparative biomechanics from the University of Pennsylvania. His research explores vertebrate cranial mechanics and functional morphology, using techniques like finite element analysis (FEA), laser Doppler vibrometry, nanoindentation, CT/MRI image segmentation, and photogrammetry to understand form-function relationships in evolution.

Dr. Srinivas says ” I’m passionate about translating complex biological systems into digital models for biomechanical and ergonomic analysis. I combine my technical expertise with strong visual communication—especially in building impactful graphics, slides, and science communication materials.”

You can find more about Dr. Srinivas on Research GateGoogle Scholar and BlueSky.
